Nesting Instincts When it comes to Los Angeles real estate, the three magic words location, location, location ought to be swapped with avian names like Flicker, Thrasher, and Oriole. They identify a number of the so-called Bird Streets that make up one of the hottest neighborhoods in Tinseltown, located in the Hollywood Hills, just above Sunset Blvd. New to the hood: Leonardo DiCaprio, who recently bought Madonna’s old roost, and Tori Spelling, who’s just settled in digs near the likes of Winona Ryder and Jodie Foster. “It’s a central playground for all of the people in the entertainment industry,” says real estate broker Kathy Villa of Coldwell Banker Beverly Hills North. “It’s an ideal location because it’s accessible to studios, and it’s close to the Sunset Strip.” A common characteristic most of the houses share, Villa notes, is “magnificent views” of the city. And the Bird Streets also have historical cred: They’re represented on the Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour. George Harrison penned the dreamy “Blue Jay Way” while renting a house on the avenue in 1967. But good luck finding the street sign: It’s reportedly a hot collector’s item among Beatlemaniacs.
